3. Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking Technologies
This section serves as our Cookie Policy and describes the cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies (collectively, "Cookies") that we and our third-party service providers use on the Services.
3.1 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work or work more efficiently, to provide reporting information, and to deliver advertising tailored to your interests. Some Cookies are placed by us directly ("first-party Cookies"); others are placed by third parties whose technologies are embedded in our Services ("third-party Cookies").
3.2 Categories of Cookies We Use
- Strictly Necessary Cookies. These Cookies are essential to provide you with the Services and to enable core functionality, such as authenticating logged-in users and remembering account-related preferences. These Cookies cannot be turned off in our systems.
- Performance and Analytics Cookies. These Cookies help us understand how users interact with the Services so we can measure and improve performance. They collect information such as which pages are visited most often and how users navigate through the Site. We use Google Analytics for this purpose.
- Functional Cookies. These Cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization, such as remembering your topics of interest so we can suggest relevant content within the newsletter and on the Site.
- Advertising and Targeting Cookies. These Cookies are set through our Services by our advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertising on other websites and platforms. They include the Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google advertising tags, and the TikTok Pixel.
- Email Engagement Pixels. Our newsletter emails contain tracking pixels and wrapped links that allow us to record whether you opened an email, which links you clicked, and the time and frequency of those actions. We use this engagement data to operate the newsletter, measure performance, suggest relevant content, and share aggregated or de-identified engagement metrics with sponsors.
3.3 Specific Cookie Sources

- Google advertising products (advertising and measurement);

3.4 Your Cookie Choices
You have several ways to control or limit how Cookies are used:
- Cookie Banner. Where we display a cookie consent banner, you can accept, reject, or customize non-essential Cookies at any time.
- Browser Settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete Cookies through their settings. Disabling Cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.
- Industry Opt-Out Tools. You can opt out of many third-party advertising Cookies through the Network Advertising Initiative at https://optout.networkadvertising.org and the Digital Advertising Alliance at https://optout.aboutads.info. For mobile devices, you can use the AppChoices app (https://youradchoices.com/appchoices) or your device's advertising-ID settings.
- Email Tracking. You can limit email tracking by viewing emails in plain-text mode or disabling automatic image loading in your email client. You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time using the link in any email.
- Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") browser signal as a valid opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of Personal Information for users whose state law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) recognizes the signal.
- "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." Where available on the Site, you may use this link to opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. How We Share Your Information
We may disclose Personal Information that we collect or you provide as described in this Policy:

- If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Alpha Signal, our users, or others.
We do not sell your Personal Information for monetary consideration. Some of our disclosures to advertising partners may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under certain U.S. state privacy laws; please see Section 11 for information on your rights and how to opt out.
6. Sponsors, Advertisers, and Affiliates
Alpha Signal's newsletter and Site include sponsored content, advertising, and affiliate placements. We are committed to clear, conspicuous disclosure of these relationships consistent with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides.
6.1 Sponsored Content
Sponsored placements are clearly labeled (for example, with "Sponsored," "Partner," or "Ad"). Sponsored content is paid for by the named sponsor and does not reflect editorial endorsement by Alpha Signal unless we explicitly say so.
6.2 Cost-Per-Lead and Customer Referral Programs
We operate cost-per-lead and customer referral programs in which sponsors may receive your Personal Information when you opt in to a specific sponsor's offer (for example, by submitting a form, signing up for a sponsor's newsletter, or downloading sponsor content). Opt-in is explicit and is presented to you at the point of collection. If you do not opt in, the sponsor does not receive your Personal Information through these programs.
6.3 Engagement Metrics Shared With Sponsors
Even when you do not opt in to a sponsor program, sponsors may receive aggregated or de-identified engagement metrics about their placements, such as impressions, opens, clicks, and click-through rates. These metrics measure the performance of sponsored placements and do not, by themselves, identify you.
6.4 Affiliate Links
Some links in our newsletter and on the Site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you click and complete a qualifying action (such as a purchase or signup). The presence of an affiliate relationship does not increase the cost to you, and we disclose material connections where required by applicable law.
7. Your Choices About Our Collection, Use, and Disclosure
- Email Communications: You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email or by emailing [email protected]. We may still send you transactional or account-related messages.

- Advertising: You can opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry tools referenced in Section 3.

8. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When we no longer need Personal Information, we will delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with our data retention practices and applicable law.
9. Data Security
We have implemented technical and organizational measures designed to secure your Personal Information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of Personal Information transmitted to our Services. Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk.
10. International Data Transfers
Alpha Signal is based in the United States. The Services are global, and our subscribers reside in over 100 countries, including in the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Asia. When you access the Services from outside the United States, your Personal Information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to transfer Personal Information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland to the United States.
11. Region-Specific Privacy Rights
11.1 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the purposes for which we collected it, and the third parties with whom we shared it;

13. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, plug-ins, and applications. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy on the Site and update the "Effective Date" at the top.
