Waifu2x-Extension-GUI Bundles a Dozen AI Upscalers Into One Windows App
A single Windows GUI wraps Waifu2x, Real-ESRGAN, Real-CUGAN, RTX VSR, RIFE and more for image, GIF and video super-resolution.
PRO- Windows GUI bundling Waifu2x, Real-ESRGAN, Real-CUGAN, SRMD, RealSR, Anime4K, ACNet and RTX VSR upscalers
- Includes RIFE, IFRNet, CAIN and DAIN for video frame interpolation in the same pipeline
- Multi-GPU support across all engines, works on Intel, AMD and Nvidia hardware via Vulkan
- Handles images, GIF, APNG, WebP and video in one batch queue with presets
- Free for personal use; commercial use requires the Premium version on Patreon
- Portable Windows x64 build available on the GitHub releases page
If you have ever gone down the rabbit hole of upscaling old anime, restoring a compressed GIF, or squeezing extra frames out of a low-FPS video, you have probably ended up juggling five different command-line tools. Waifu2x-Extension-GUI is the Windows app that quietly replaces most of that pipeline, and it has grown into one of the more popular super-resolution toolkits on GitHub with over 16k stars.
The project is a C++ desktop application that bundles nearly every well-known neural upscaler and frame interpolator behind a single interface. It supports Waifu2x, SRMD, RealSR, Real-ESRGAN, Real-CUGAN, Anime4K, ACNet and RTX Video Super Resolution for upscaling, plus RIFE, CAIN, DAIN and IFRNet for video frame interpolation. Instead of picking one model and living with its weaknesses, you can route each job through whichever engine handles it best.
One shell, a dozen models
The value proposition is mostly about integration. The app handles images, animated GIF, APNG, WebP and video in the same queue, and ships with built-in presets that configure all engine parameters with a single click. Under the hood it calls the well-known ncnn-vulkan ports of these models (waifu2x-ncnn-vulkan, realesrgan-ncnn-vulkan, realcugan-ncnn-vulkan, rife-ncnn-vulkan and so on), which is why it stays hardware-agnostic.
