  • DLSS-NR-on-AMD runs NVIDIA's DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on Radeon RX 9000/7000 GPUs.
  • Not a CUDA shim: it's a from-scratch HIP-kernel reimplementation of the neural runtime.
  • Back-to-back Alpha 0.3.3 and 0.4.0 releases delivered a combined ~74% speedup in one day.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 jumped from 30 to 50 FPS at 3440x1440 on an RX 9070 XT.
  • Works only in DX12 games with FSR; anti-cheat titles block the injected DLL.
  • Users must supply their own nvngx_dlssnr.dll (build 310.8.0.0) from a DLSS 5 game.

Experimental mod runs DLSS 5 neural rendering on Radeon

A solo developer has released an alpha tool that runs NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 Neural Rendering model on AMD Radeon GPUs in DirectX 12 games with FSR support. The DLSS-NR-on-AMD project has passed 1,700 GitHub stars, and two recent releases reported sequential performance gains of 23% and 42%.

Those gains compound to about 74.7% relative to the earlier build. A separate Cyberpunk 2077 test increased from 30 to 50 frames per second at 3440 by 1440, bringing an experimental implementation closer to playable performance on a Radeon RX 9070 XT. Both results come from the developer’s testing and still need independent verification.

A custom AMD path for NVIDIA’s model

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering is NVIDIA’s neural post-processing system for reconstructing detail, refining materials, and improving skin rendering. NVIDIA designed it to operate alongside an upscaler, typically DLSS Super Resolution, and currently limits official support to RTX 50-series GPUs and NBA 2K27.

DLSS-NR-on-AMD targets AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture, led by the RX 9000 series. In a supported game, the mod hooks into the rendering path exposed through FSR, loads a user-supplied NVIDIA model DLL, and executes the network through an AMD-compatible runtime. The default configuration leaves FSR responsible for upscaling and temporal accumulation.

What the installation requires

Requirement Current support
Graphics API DirectX 12
Game integration FSR 3 or FSR 4
Primary GPU target AMD Radeon RX 9000 series
Tested GPU Radeon RX 9070 XT
Model file nvngx_dlssnr.dll, build 310.8.0.0

The current setup modifies files in the game’s executable directory, so users should back up replaced files and obtain releases from the project repository. The installation process is:
