  • Agent Skills launched: Runway added slash-command-triggered workflows to its AI Agent for building ad campaigns, commercials, and localized assets.
  • How it works: Type / in Agent chat, choose a Skill, and the agent autonomously handles scripting, generation, editing, and platform formatting.
  • Built on Agent 2.0: Skills extends the Agent 2.0 update (launched one week prior), which added performance data analysis from Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and Google.
  • Key capabilities: Auto-format for 9:16 Reels, 16:9 YouTube, 1:1 feed; localize copy and visuals per region; generate a week of social content in one session.
  • Availability and cost: Available on all plans (Free through Enterprise, starting at $12/month annual); 30% off with code AGENT.
  • Limitation: Agent outputs exclusively from Runway's own models (Gen-4.5), with no multi-model routing across third-party engines.

Runway's Agent just got a new power-up. The company shipped Agent Skills, a feature that lets you trigger complex, multi-step marketing production workflows with a single slash command. Type / in the Agent chat, pick a Skill, and the system handles the rest: scripting, generating, editing, and formatting video assets end to end.

The problem it's solving

Every marketer knows what it takes to drive revenue: analyze what's working, make more of it, cut what's not. In practice, making that happen across every campaign, social post, and paid ad is more than one person or even a lean team can keep up with. That gap between knowing and doing is where most marketing falls short. Agent Skills is Runway's answer to that gap.

The feature builds directly on top of Agent 2.0, which launched just a week prior. Agent 2.0 is an upgraded Runway Agent experience designed to close that gap. Bring in what you're working with: a paid ads campaign that isn't converting, a product you're launching next week, or an audience you're trying to break into. Agent analyzes it, asks the right questions, and builds with you until it's right, all in one conversation.

What Skills actually do

Agent Skills let you build an ad campaign, create a commercial, localize your ads, and more with a simple command. The slash-command interface is the key UX decision here: instead of freeform prompting, you get a structured menu of pre-built workflows that the agent executes autonomously once triggered.

The four main use cases Runway is targeting:

  • Brand marketers: Develop campaign concepts in conversation. Let Agent know who you're targeting and it will help you find the best creative angles to sell your products and generate every variation you need. Create seasonal content, brand videos, and campaign assets.
  • Performance marketers: Build on what's working. Upload your creative, provide your ad metrics from Meta, YouTube, TikTok, or Google, and Agent analyzes and creates your next set of ads to test.
  • Social marketers: Generate a week's worth of on-brand content in a single session. Give Agent the engagement data from your last week of content and it finds what's working and generates your next week of posts, with variants cut for every platform. Tell Agent what you need, and it automatically cuts into the right formats: 9:16 for Reels and Stories, 16:9 for YouTube, 1:1 for feed.
  • Localization: Adapting a campaign for a new market? Agent localizes copy and swaps visuals so you're not rebuilding assets from scratch for every region.

The bigger arc: from tool to autonomous agent

Skills is not a standalone release. It's the latest layer in a fast-moving product stack Runway has been assembling since May 2026. Runway Agent launched as an agentic creative partner that takes you from idea to finished, ready-to-publish video in a single conversation. Agent 2.0 then added performance data analysis and cross-platform formatting. Skills now adds structured, repeatable workflows on top of that conversational foundation.

Runway wants Agent to become the most capable autonomous agent for real-world work: connecting directly to the platforms where your marketing lives, learning from performance data, and generating new assets and campaigns automatically. For most AI tools, the finished asset is the end. Runway is building Agent to keep going: to help you run your marketing end to end and keep improving.

The underlying generation engine powering all of this is Gen-4.5. Gen-4.5 is described as the world's top-rated video model, offering unprecedented visual fidelity and creative control. Agent assembles its output using Gen-4.5 as the generation engine. That means the quality ceiling for Skills-generated campaigns is tied directly to Runway's flagship model.

One real limitation to know

Runway Agent produces output exclusively from Runway's models, while multi-model agents can route each scene to the engine best suited for that specific shot, such as cinematic sequences through one model and speed-critical social cuts through another. If you're already running a multi-model workflow and want the best output for each specific shot type, that lock-in is worth factoring in.

The credit system is also a real consideration at volume. One second of Gen-4.5, Runway's benchmark-topping flagship model, costs 25 credits. A full ad campaign run through Agent Skills will consume a meaningful chunk of your monthly allotment, especially on lower tiers.

Availability and pricing

Agent 2.0, and by extension Agent Skills, is available for all users. Runway AI offers five plans: Free (125 one-time credits), Standard ($12/user/month annual, 625 credits/month), Pro ($28/user/month, 2,250 credits/month), Max ($76/user/month, 9,500 credits/month), and Enterprise (custom). For teams planning to run Agent Skills at any real volume, Pro is the practical starting point. There is also an active promotion: the Agent 2.0 launch page is offering 30% off any plan with the code AGENT.

If your team is spending hours reformatting ads for different platforms, manually localizing campaigns, or struggling to keep up with a social content calendar, Agent Skills is worth a serious look. The slash-command model lowers the floor for getting a full production workflow running, and the integration with performance data from Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and Google is a meaningful step toward closing the loop between analytics and creative output.
