RoboParty Opens RP1 Humanoid Robot From CAD to Reinforcement Learning
RoboParty's RP1 ships every layer of a bipedal humanoid, from CAD and PCBs to Linux BSP, URDF, locomotion training and behavior foundation models.
- RoboParty released RP1, a full stack open source bipedal humanoid under GPL-3.0.
- Repo bundles mechanical CAD, PCB Gerbers, BOM, firmware, Linux BSP, URDF/MJCF and SDK.
- Supports 24, 28, 30 and 42 DoF variants with up to 160 N m peak joint torque.
- Training stack includes AMP, BeyondMimic, MimicLite and the UFO unsupervised RL framework.
- Debuted at IROS 2026 with a Kick Me balance recovery demo.
- Builds on earlier RPO project, which collected more than 2,500 GitHub stars.
RoboParty opens RP1 from CAD to reinforcement learning
RoboParty has launched RP1, a bipedal humanoid whose hardware designs, control software and training code are being released as open source. The project covers mechanical CAD, PCB Gerber files, a bill of materials, actuator firmware, a Linux board support package, robot models, a deployment SDK and reinforcement learning tools. RoboParty publishes the stack through the RP1 repository under GPL-3.0.
According to the company’s launch announcement, RP1 debuted publicly at the 2026 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. RoboParty’s “Kick Me” booth invited visitors to push the robot while its controller recovered balance. RP1 follows the team’s RPO, or ROBOTO ORIGIN, project, which was open-sourced in January 2026 and had collected more than 2,500 GitHub stars by the RP1 launch.
From CAD files to control loops
The umbrella repository serves as a map to roughly a dozen component repositories. Its main published projects include:
rp1_hardware: Mechanical source files, PCB Gerber fabrication files, testing procedures and assembly instructions.ROMOMO: Joint actuator modules, embedded firmware and host-side tools.RP-hand: A dexterous hand with CAN-FD communications and an SDK.RP1_firmware: The Linux board support package, USB-to-CAN bridge and low-level SDK.RP1_description: URDF and MJCF robot models, plus 3D assets for simulators such as Isaac Lab and MuJoCo.roboparty_deploy: Runtime interfaces for the inertial measurement unit, motors, hand, cameras and neural-network inference.roboparty_train: Training code for locomotion, motion imitation and reusable behavior models.
