  • Now live: Perplexity's Personal Computer agent is generally available on Windows 10 and 11 for Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers.
  • Multi-model orchestration: Routes tasks across 20+ frontier AI models, selecting the best model for each sub-task automatically.
  • Deep Microsoft 365 integration: Works natively inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint via Microsoft Marketplace plugins.
  • Local file access: Can open, read, and edit files in approved folders on your desktop, plus connect to 400+ external apps including Salesforce and Snowflake.
  • Brain memory system: Persistent memory across sessions means every task starts with full context from your past work and projects.
  • Competitive positioning: Targets Microsoft Copilot's enterprise dominance with broader cross-tool orchestration beyond the M365 ecosystem.

Personal Computer, Perplexity's local AI agent harness, is now generally available on Windows 10 and 11. The launch completes the platform's cross-desktop story: after launching on Mac, the company is now bringing the desktop version of its cloud orchestrator to Windows machines. For the hundreds of millions of people who do their real work in Windows, this is the first time Perplexity's agentic system can actually reach into their local environment and act on it.

Personal Computer is an AI orchestration layer that runs directly on your Windows machine, working across your local files, native apps, and the web to complete multi-step tasks. Most AI agents live in a browser tab and have no access to what's actually on your machine. Personal Computer closes that loop by acting on your machine, not just answering in a chat window.

What it actually does

The agent is designed to connect local files, native apps, and web services within one system, automatically selecting the most suitable of over 20 AI models for each sub-task. Think of it as a general contractor that breaks your request into pieces and hands each piece to the right specialist model. You ask for a competitive analysis; it figures out which subtasks need deep web research, which need document parsing, and which need code execution, then routes each accordingly.

The key capabilities on Windows are:

  • Local file access: Point it at approved folders and it can open, read, and edit files directly on your machine. No uploads, no copy-paste.
  • Microsoft 365 integration: Users can ask Computer to work with their local files, native Microsoft apps, and the web, all in one place. Computer is live in Microsoft 365, letting people use it in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • 400+ app connectors: Pull data from Salesforce, Snowflake, Asana, SharePoint, and hundreds of other tools directly into your local files.
