dot-skill Hits 23K Stars Turning Real People Into Installable AI Agents
A viral open-source skill for Claude Code, Codex, and other agent hosts distills coworkers, loved ones, and public figures into reusable AI personas.
PRO- dot-skill turns coworkers, loved ones, or public figures into installable AI agent skills via GitHub repo
- Runs across Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, OpenClaw, and DeepSeek Harness with a unified /dot-skill entrypoint
- Three families: colleague, relationship, celebrity, each with its own prompt pipeline and source strategy
- Ingests Feishu, DingTalk, Slack, WeChat, PDFs, screenshots, email, and markdown into a Persona architecture
- Skills evolve via file appends, conversation corrections, and versioned rollback through a Python toolchain
- Technical foundations documented in the colleague.skill arXiv report on expert knowledge distillation
A GitHub project called dot-skill is doing something odd and oddly compelling: it turns real people into installable agent skills. Feed it chat logs, docs, or subtitles of someone, and it builds an AI that reasons and speaks the way they do. The repo, originally launched as colleague.skill, has crossed 23,000 stars and now runs across five different agent hosts.
From colleague to anyone
The original version was narrower, focused on the coworker scenario and locked to Claude Code. The rewrite generalizes the engine. A unified /dot-skill entrypoint now sits on a general-purpose skill engine, so one engine distills anyone rather than running as a colleague-specific script.
Three character families are supported, each with its own pipeline:
- Colleague for coworkers, mentors, teammates, upstream and downstream partners. Captures both technical standards and workplace demeanor.
- Relationship for exes, partners, parents, close friends. Focuses on emotional patterns rather than work output.
- Celebrity for public figures, creators, fictional characters. Ships with a six-dimension research toolchain covering subtitles, transcript cleanup, research merge, and quality check.
