Coucou puts Claude Code approvals in your Mac’s notch

Coucou is an open-source desktop companion that displays agent activity and permission requests around a MacBook notch or at the top of a Windows screen. Developers can follow file reads, edits, and commands, then approve supported Claude Code tool calls without returning to the terminal.

Created by Louis Raillé with Swift 6 and SwiftUI, the project attracted more than 2,400 GitHub stars within days of launch. Its animated mascot, Mochi, gives the utility a playful interface while the underlying app tackles a common interruption in long-running coding-agent sessions.

Approvals move into the notch

The compact, interactive overlay tracks multiple sessions and exposes controls where they remain visible during other work. Its current feature set includes:

  • Live session activity for Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and Antigravity agents, including reads, edits, and commands.
  • Allow and Deny controls for Claude Code permission requests.
  • Direct navigation to the relevant terminal window when a session is selected on macOS.
  • A built-in Claude chat panel whose model list comes from the connected Anthropic account.
  • File attachments through drag and drop, plus the option to drag Mochi onto a window and add that window as context.
