- Ships a packaged skill for Claude Code and OpenClaw with tool schemas and automation patterns.
A new open-source project called AIPex takes a different approach to the AI browser wars. Instead of asking you to switch to a whole new browser like Dia, Comet, or ChatGPT Atlas, it ships as a Chrome and Edge extension that turns the browser you already use into an agent-controllable surface. The repo has climbed to roughly 1.2k stars, is MIT licensed, and written almost entirely in TypeScript.
Install the extension, bring your own API key, and automate anything in the browser where you already have your logins, cookies, bookmarks, and extensions. No profile migration, no monthly subscription, no requirement to hand over your browsing history to a vendor.
What it actually does
AIPex exposes a natural-language control layer over the browser plus a library of automation tools the agent can call. The product site advertises around 30 tools covering tab management, data extraction, form filling, and workflow automation. Typical prompts look like the demos in the README: cleaning up a session with 100 open tabs, running research across multiple sources without leaving the current window, drafting a tweet based on the page you are reading, or walking through an exam-style task step by step.
