Kimi Code CLI, Moonshot AI's terminal-based coding agent, just shipped v0.13.0 with three quality-of-life additions that make it easier to personalize, migrate from competing tools, and keep your plugin ecosystem up to date. None of these are earth-shattering on their own, but together they signal something more interesting: Kimi Code is actively courting users of Claude Code and OpenAI Codex.
The three new things
- Custom color themes. Beyond the built-in dark and light palettes, you can now define your own as a JSON file, overriding only the colors you care about while the rest fall back to a base palette. The file name becomes the theme name. Or run
/custom-themeand let Kimi pick colors with you, writing the theme file into~/.kimi-code/themes/. - /import-from-cc-codex. This new slash command lets you import selected instructions, Skills, and MCP settings from Claude Code and Codex, so you don't have to reconfigure everything by hand when moving to Kimi Code.
- Plugin update alerts. The marketplace list now flags installed plugins that have updates available. Select one and press Enter to upgrade.
