# Moonshot AI's Kimi Code Now Lets You Ditch Claude Code Without Reconfiguring Everything

> Kimi Code CLI v0.13.0 adds custom color themes, one-command Claude Code and Codex migration, and live plugin update alerts

[Kimi Code](https://www.kimi.com/code), Moonshot AI's terminal-based coding agent, just shipped v0.13.0 with three quality-of-life upgrades that make it meaningfully easier to personalize your environment and migrate from competing tools. The update is available right now via `kimi upgrade` or a fresh npm install.

## What landed in v0.13.0

The headline features are focused on customization and interoperability:

- **Custom color themes** , define your own palette as a JSON file dropped into `~/.kimi-code/themes/`, or let the agent generate one for you interactively with `/custom-theme`.
- **`/import-from-cc-codex`** , a new slash command that pulls in instructions, Skills, and MCP server settings from an existing Claude Code or OpenAI Codex setup, so you don't have to reconfigure everything by hand.
- **Plugin update badges** , the marketplace now surfaces available updates inline, so you no longer have to hunt for whether a plugin has a newer version.

## Themes: more control than you'd expect

Beyond the built-in dark and light palettes, you can define your own as a JSON file , override only the colors you care about, the rest fall back to a base palette, and the file name becomes the theme name.
The system exposes around 18 named color tokens covering everything from diff gutters to error states and user-message bullets.

You don't need to write JSON from scratch.
Run `/custom-theme` and let Kimi pick colors with you and write the theme file into `~/.kimi-code/themes/`.
You can pass a description inline:

```
/custom-theme Create a warm dark theme with amber accents.
/custom-theme Make a light theme based on Solarized, but keep errors easy to see.
```

A minimal theme file looks like this:

```
{
  "name": "ember
```
