# Google's Gemini Daily Brief Reads Your Gmail and Calendar While You Sleep

> Google's Gemini Daily Brief is now live for paid subscribers, delivering a personalized morning digest built from your Gmail, Calendar, and tasks — no prompt required.

Google has launched [Daily Brief](https://gemini.google.com/), a new feature inside the Gemini app that automatically assembles a personalized morning digest before you even open your laptop. It reads your Gmail, scans your Calendar, and pulls in your task list overnight, then surfaces a prioritized, skimmable overview of what actually matters that day. No prompt needed , Gemini does the work while you sleep.

## What it does, exactly

Daily Brief is your personalized daily overview built with Gemini, powered by Personal Intelligence. It distills priorities from your connected apps , like Gmail and Google Calendar , and your Gemini chats into one intelligent, easy-to-read view. The key distinction from a simple summary: Daily Brief actively organizes and prioritizes based on your specific goals, even suggesting immediate next steps. You can steer it over time by giving responses a quick thumbs up or down.

Gemini works overnight to gather information on your day ahead by analyzing your Gmail, Calendar, and Tasks for what's coming up. Once it's ready, you access it from the side panel inside the Gemini app or on the web. The result is less a notification and more a structured briefing , think of it as a daily standup with your own AI chief of staff.

## Who can use it and what it costs

Daily Brief begins rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, starting in the U.S. Google AI Ultra now starts at $99.99 per month to access all these new features, while a cheaper $200 plan provides access to Google's highest limits. The feature is limited to users 18 and older for now.

## A second attempt at something Google already tried

This is not Google's first swing at a proactive daily digest. It's a feature Google previously attempted to launch as Daily Hub on the Pixel 10 series, but removed due to poor user feedback. Daily Brief is the rebuilt, app-based version , no longer tied to a specific hardware line, and now running on top of Gemini's full Personal Intelligence stack rather than a standalone Pixel feature.

The timing is deliberate. The Gemini app now has 900 million monthly users, and the new features position Gemini as a proactive assistant rather than a reactive chatbot. Daily Brief is the most visible expression of that shift: instead of waiting for you to ask a question, Gemini now shows up with answers before you know you need them.

## The bigger picture: Gemini goes agentic

Daily Brief launched alongside a wave of other Gemini updates at Google I/O 2026. The Gemini app is getting a series of new updates, including a redesigned interface, access to a new AI video model called Gemini Omni, and a new personal AI agent called Gemini Spark. Together, the updates signal Google's push to turn its Gemini app into an all-purpose AI hub rather than a stand-alone chatbot, and to make the AI assistant more competitive with apps like ChatGPT and Claude.

The companion feature to Daily Brief is [Gemini Spark](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/next-evolution-gemini-app/), a more ambitious autonomous agent. Google describes Spark as a 24/7 cloud-based AI agent that can proactively handle tasks on your behalf even after you close your laptop or lock your phone. Powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash, Spark deeply integrates with Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, and Slides. Where Daily Brief tells you what to do, Spark actually does it. Spark is currently in testing and rolling out to Ultra subscribers next week.

New MCP (Model Context Protocol , a standard that lets AI agents connect to third-party tools) integrations are also live today. Google is expanding its list of Gemini connected apps with new MCP connections to Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart launching today, with a full list of more partners integrating now.

## What this means for you

If you are a paid Gemini subscriber in the U.S., Daily Brief is the most immediately useful thing to try right now. Here is what to expect:

- **Access:** Open the [Gemini app](https://gemini.google.com/) or web and select Daily Brief in the side panel
- **Data sources:** Gmail inbox, Google Calendar events, and your Tasks list
- **Output:** A prioritized, skimmable briefing with suggested next steps
- **Personalization:** Thumbs up/down feedback trains it to your preferences over time
- **Availability:** Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in the U.S., ages 18+

Google says it has a packed roadmap of features shipping over the summer. Daily Brief is the entry point , the first agentic feature most Gemini users will actually encounter. Whether it sticks depends on how well Gemini's overnight analysis translates into something genuinely useful versus just another inbox to check.
