# Anthropic Ships Reflect, a Dashboard That Coaches You on Smarter Claude Usage

> Anthropic launches Reflect, a Spotify Wrapped-style dashboard that shows how you use Claude and nudges you to log off

Anthropic just shipped [Reflect](https://www.anthropic.com/news/reflect-with-claude), a personal usage dashboard baked into Claude that shows you exactly how, when, and why you've been reaching for the chatbot. It's part usage analytics, part digital wellness tool, and part AI skills coach. The closest analogy: think of it as a cross between Spotify Wrapped and Apple's Screen Time tool, except the thing being tracked is your AI usage.

In interviews with users, Anthropic found a common theme: a desire to better understand how AI could be integrated into daily life. How often should someone use AI? How can it be used most effectively? When is AI suited to a task, and when is it better left to a human? Reflect is Anthropic's attempt to answer those questions with data from your own conversations.

## What the dashboard actually shows

Your reflection starts with a summary of how you've been using Claude, covering key topics, your usage patterns, and the types of tasks you often work through. By default, Claude will collate your last month of interactions, but you can also see your last three, six, or 12 months of usage. Under that, the interface lists your most active day, peak hour, and total chats over your selected time period, with a visual representation just below.

Your reflection also invites you to step back and examine the role Claude plays in your life. It will periodically surface questions like, "What's one thing you want to keep doing yourself, even if Claude could do it faster?" and give you the chance to talk it through with Claude. That last part is a bit meta: Claude helping you decide when to stop using Claude.

On the practical controls side, within your dashboard, you can set quiet hours or schedule a nudge to take a break from using Claude after a certain amount of time. Both are reminders of your own preferences and can be dismissed. In the future, you'll also be able to see how much time you've spent chatting with Claude, but for now that metric isn't available.

## The AI skills layer

Beyond raw stats, Reflect doubles as a coaching tool. You can use your reflection to build new skills and sharpen how you work with Claude, using the 4D AI Fluency Framework. The four dimensions are:

- **Delegation**: Setting goals and deciding whether and how to engage with AI
- **Description**: Effectively describing goals to prompt useful AI behaviors and outputs
- **Discernment**: Accurately assessing the usefulness of AI outputs and behaviors
- **Diligence**: Taking responsibility for what you do with AI and how you do it

The dashboard offers a set of AI "fluency" recommendations designed to streamline your usage of Claude. For example, if Claude finds you frequently re-establish the same or similar context when you go to write a question or request, it will recommend you use its Projects feature to group your prompts together, so that you don't need to repeat yourself so often.

The recommendations can get surprisingly specific. One Engadget reporter found the Reflect dashboard recommended creating a custom fact-checking skill for Claude based on their usage. When they followed the suggestion, Claude devised a text template to always list its source for a claim, its confidence in the information, and any caveats. They found the template helpful, and it wasn't something they would have thought to ask Claude to do on their own.

## The wellbeing angle is intentional

According to Ryn Linthicum, Anthropic's head of wellbeing policy, Reflect came out of a study the company's Societal Impacts team recently completed where participants expressed a mixture of optimism and anxiety around Claude and other AI products. The design philosophy follows from that: Anthropic was intentional about building the dashboard with an eye toward how it can upskill people's usage of Claude, not in a way that encourages them to spend more time with it, but instead enables them to get more efficient at meeting their goals.

AI chatbots are becoming work tool, search engine, confidant, and coach all at once, raising the same kinds of questions about healthy use that social media did, but with even more intimate data. That context makes Reflect more than a novelty feature. In developing this tool, Anthropic worked with digital media and wellbeing experts from the MIT Media Lab's Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) program, the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children's Hospital, and the Family Online Safety Institute.

## Privacy guardrails

Because Reflect is synthesizing your conversation history, the privacy boundaries matter. Here's what's in and out:

- **Excluded:** Incognito chats, health integration content, and underlying files from connected tools
- **Included (at a high level):** Regular conversations, including sensitive ones, summarized without exposing raw content
- **Example:** If you ask Claude to summarize your inbox, the summary might show up in a reflection, but not the underlying emails.

Anthropic is also explicit that sensitive conversations can still appear as part of your reflection, but only at a high level. The insights in your reflection stay there and aren't used for any other purpose.

## How to get it

This tool is currently available in beta for Free, Pro, and Max users who have memory turned on. There's no additional cost. Open Settings in Claude on the web or the desktop app, and select the option to reflect on your usage to generate your report. If you can't generate a report, it may be because you don't have Memory turned on. In the future, the dashboard will also be available on mobile, and reflect your usage there. Reflecting on Cowork conversations will be available soon.

The feature is most useful if you've been a regular Claude user for at least a month, since the insights are only as good as the history behind them. For anyone trying to build better AI habits, understand where they're over-relying on the tool, or just get a cleaner workflow, it's worth a look.
