# acpx Opens a Structured JSON-RPC Bridge to Claude, Codex, and Gemini

> The openclaw team published acpx, an MIT-licensed TypeScript CLI that speaks the Agent Client Protocol so orchestrators can drive coding agents through structured messages.

The [openclaw/acpx](https://github.com/openclaw/acpx) repository is now public on GitHub, shipping a headless command-line client for the [Agent Client Protocol](https://agentclientprotocol.com). acpx gives agents, orchestrators, and developers one structured interface for persistent sessions, one-shot runs, permissions, and machine-readable output. It is written in TypeScript, MIT-licensed, and published to npm as the `acpx` package.

The maintainers are upfront about the maturity level. acpx is in alpha and the CLI/runtime interfaces are likely to change, so anything you build downstream of this might break until it stabilizes. The README also notes it is an ACP client rather than a full orchestration framework, and links to a spec coverage roadmap that tracks which parts of the protocol are wired up.

## Killing the pseudo-terminal dance

Most coding agents today ship as terminal apps. If you want another program to drive them, you spawn a pseudo-terminal, feed it characters, and parse ANSI escape codes back out. ACP is a JSON-RPC style protocol that avoids that entirely, and acpx is the client half of that conversation. You talk to coding agents (Claude, Codex, Gemini, and others) over structured JSON-RPC instead of terminal scraping.
